Green Roof
A country-wide network of green roofs can result in cooler temperatures, reduced energy demand, contained water runoff
and an enhanced sense of well-being. They individually offer building owner savings on energy and roof membrane replacement costs. But possibly the greatest incentive green roofs offer to city dwellers is the ability to connect with nature.
As of date, there are two installation methods for green roofs - the Lay & Plant-in-Place system, and the Tray system
The Lay and Plant-in-Place system, as the name suggests, involves installing all of the system’s components step-by-step, before doing the planting at the site itself. We work with the client, designers and/or architects to c1reate a planting scheme that is completely tailor-made to meet the client’s requirements. The Lay and Plant-in-Place system is often the system of choice for intensive green roofs.
The Tray system is a 3-in-1 system, which contains within itself the drainage layer, transpiration layer, and planting medium. These typically modularsystems, are set up and planted before they are transported to site, where they are interlocked to create a firm, non-displacable surface, though individual modules can be removed for maintenance purposes. They are easily lifted and handled by individual personnel. AsTray systems have shallow planting depths, they are normally used for extensive green roofs.
Green Roofing has typically consisted of layers which are build up on site, which can be a very time consuming and compliated process. The Hellogreen system offers the ideal solution- the modular,all-in-one system transforming installation into a cost effective and efficient procedure and providing an instant green image .
The modular system can incorporate additional indigenous species of wild flowers and grass for added colour and interest.
The main advantages of the Hellogreen Green Roof System is that is for any reason access is needed to a particular area of the roof , a module can be easily lifted out and move to one side , then put back in place once the work has been carried out.
Types Of Green Roofs
and their associated systems
Extensive, Intensive, and Hybrid - these are the different types
of green roofs currently present in roof gardens everywhere
Extensive green roofs are economical, lightweight constructs on which grasses, low shrubs and other ground cover may be grown. Public access is typically not provided for extensive green roofs.
Intensive green roofs are the typical roof garden that consists of walkways, hardscape features, larger varieties of shrubs and sometimes even trees -
just about anything you might find in a garden on ground level. These
typically allow public access.
A hybrid green roof is a green roof that mainly has ground covers and small shrubs, while also sometimes featuring walkways. It could be said that they are the middleground between extensive and intensive green roofs. No matter which type of green roof you have, the basic sub-structure is thesame.

What is Rooftop Agriculture?
Rooftop Agriculture refers to the practice of cultivating fruits and vegetables on the rooftops.Currently , thsis is done on a small scale with hydroponics, aeroponics, and container gardens. The use of green roof systems moves rooftop agriculture to a larger scale .
On an accessible rooftop, space becomes avaliable for locailized urban agriculture , a source of local food production .An urban garden can supplement the diets of the community it feeds with fresh produce and provide a tangible tie to food production.
So,What does Hellogreen's Green Roof System have to do with Rooftop Agriculture?
As a modular and highly versatile Tray-based green roof system, HELLOGREEN's Green Roof system offers all the advantages of a green roof ,and is easily relocatable and is lightweight .As a Tray-based green roof system,HELLOGREEN provides 70 milimetres of planting depth .Many local vegetables, herbs and spices thrive with our system.
